acrylic collage on paper, 30 x 24, 2018, $600
Working primarily in acrylics, textures inherently available in textiles are now being translated into layered paint and paper. Living on the edge of the continent, witnessing the forces of wind and water first-hand affects my expressions of the world around me. Elements of water, forests, rocks and waterfalls appear in the fluidity of the initial floating of paint over a wet canvas or heavy watercolor paper. By creating my own collage papers from recycled packing papers, packaging tissue and paper towels I am able to blend the painted papers with the painted substrate. Up-cycled and found objects are often included.
