ARTIST STATEMENT

I work with acrylic and mixed media producing work fast and furiously fueled by passion. I approach each piece without a preconceived idea trusting that I will find my way. Creating is a metaphor for the larger question of what meaning is there to being alive? When I create meaning out of nothingness, I can repeatedly create meaning in my life through my art, thus life itself becomes saturated with meaning.
Along with being an artist, I am an arts educator and have a masters in counseling. I have studied painting at Cornish College of the Arts, The Factory of Visual Arts and the University of Washington. My artistic interest is the exploration of the realm of abstraction through the use of found objects, mixed media and paint – producing work that has mystery, intelligence, and beauty within it.
