Charcoal on paper, 13x10, 2019, $200
My charcoal portraits are largely inspired by the parts of life we find to be hectic and messy and that stir up intense emotion. While working on each portrait, I deliberately avoid creating a sense of tranquility or look of neatness.
Shirene is a Seattle-based artist who specializes in charcoal portraits. When she is not drawing, she is traveling in Europe, working toward earning her visual web design certificate and blasting Rihanna and Nirvana among other musicians on Spotify. Oh, and she really, really loves drinking coffee and going to coffee shops.
