This is an interpretation of the medieval map of the earth and heavens, the celestial spheres. The woman is Earth, or born/swallowed by it, surrounded by zodiac signs concerning femininity. The putti/four winds are McConnell, Kavanaugh, God and Adam. This has to do with society moving backwards.
My work addresses the contemporary western mindset towards femininity, presenting it as a remnant of antiquated belief structures. I am interested in how women are regarded as the more irrational and passionate of the sexes, products of biology and nature. In my recent work, I am painting images of archetypical women as the embodiment of the idea that women are, by their nature, bitchy harpies and sirens who want to castrate men, or lure them to their deaths. This a mocking response to the the recent attacks on women’s rights, asking if this is what people are really afraid of.
I am a practicing artist, teacher, and curator, currently residing in Seattle WA. I grew up in California and Hawaii. I lived in Chelsea, NYC for a couple of years, where I received my MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2012. My BFA in Painting with a minor in Art History is from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

I am currently teaching painting, drawing, and art history at multiple colleges in the Seattle area, as well as nonprofit art centers.
