Woodcut Print on paper, 12 x 16, 2026, $150
My present media are oil paintings on panels, woodcut prints on paper, ink brush drawings on paper and gouache drawings on paper.
I am interested in the preconscious overlapping and juxtaposition of diverse impressions in the construction of meaning. My work represents a process of conscious dreaming intended to engage the viewer’s own deeper perceptions.
I have been learning and teaching art for over sixty years. My primary sources have always been individual artists I have encountered or worked with; briefly or for extended periods and, of course, every student I have ever known.
I believe that art is, beyond whatever decorative or polemic functions it may incidentally perform, a synthesis of all that is felt or known, however contradictory.
